La Jolla Language Lab is an afterschool language program dedicated to teaching children Spanish in a fun learning environment. Our goal is for students to attain a high level of fluency in Spanish over time.

Because learning a second language is so important, our goal is to teach and influence as many children as possible to learn the Spanish language and its associated cultures.

Our instructors understand the importance of learning a foreign language. They are all native or fluent speakers in the Castilian language (main language spoken in Spain) and have experience working with children.

Research shows that the best time to learn a foreign language is in early childhood. At this time, the brain is still developing and the child is more apt to learn languages and attain a more native-like accent.

Studies show that children who study a foreign language will show:

• Higher grades in school
• Increased vocabulary and problem solving skills
• Increased ability to communicate with more people
• Increased acceptance and interest in other cultures
• Increased intellectual & cultural enrichment
• Skills needed to succeed in the global marketplace
